Scott Rothkopf became the Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art on November 1, 2023. He joined the Whitney in 2009 as a curator and has since held key leadership roles, including Chief Curator, Deputy Director for Programs, and Senior Deputy Director, overseeing exhibitions, publications, collections, and strategic planning. A Harvard graduate with degrees in art and architectural history, Rothkopf began his curatorial career at the Harvard Art Museums and served as Senior Editor at Artforum International from 2004 to 2009. At the Whitney, he has curated numerous acclaimed exhibitions, including Jasper Johns: Mind/Mirror (2021–22), Laura Owens (2017), and Jeff Koons: A Retrospective (2014). Widely published on contemporary art and artists, Rothkopf is recognized as a leading curator, writer, and speaker, contributing significantly to the discourse on modern and contemporary art in the U.S. and internationally.
