Dr. Mariët Westermann is the Director and CEO of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, overseeing its flagship museum in New York, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and collaborations with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and the future Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. An accomplished art historian specializing in Dutch art, she previously served as Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of NYU Abu Dhabi, Executive Vice President at the Mellon Foundation, and Director of NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts. A graduate of Williams College and NYU (M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History), Dr. Westermann has curated major exhibitions, authored influential publications, and serves on several international boards, including the Rijksmuseum and ALIPH, contributing to global arts, heritage preservation, and museum innovation.
