Yuyan Wang: Pilgrims
Emalin, London
October 9 – November 14, 2026

In Pilgrims, Paris-based Chinese artist Yuyan Wang explores the circulation of images, the influence of technology, and our evolving relationship with the digital world.

Through video and installation, Wang examines how images acquire new meanings as they move across different contexts, while questioning the promises of technological progress and our constant pursuit of the future.

Blurring the boundaries between the organic and the artificial, her work invites viewers to reflect on how contemporary visual culture shapes our perceptions of reality, time, and human experience.

Marking Wang’s first solo exhibition in the United Kingdom and her first presentation with Emalin, Pilgrims offers a compelling meditation on the relationship between images, technology, and contemporary life.

Contemporary Art Through an Asian Lens
Asian Voices, Global Conversations at Art Basel Paris 2026

From architectural installations and experimental sculptures to digital imagery and evocative paintings, Art Basel Paris 2026 brought together diverse artistic practices that explored memory, identity, materiality, and the human experience.

Among the works that caught our attention were Tadashi Kawamata’s monumental *Wave*, transforming reclaimed materials into an architectural intervention, and Tuan Andrew Nguyen’s *Drift Glitch* at Esther Schipper, reimagining remnants of war through a striking sculptural composition.

At BANK, Zhang Yibei explored desire and emotional absence through organic sculptural forms, while Haneyl Choi’s presentation at P21 challenged conventional representations of the human body. Lu Yang’s work at SOCIÉTÉ brought together digital technology and spiritual imagery, questioning the boundaries between physical and virtual identities.

Meanwhile, Owen Fu’s dreamlike paintings at Antenna Space and Wang Yin’s quietly evocative figurative work offered different perspectives on memory and perception. At 47 Canal, Cici Wu transformed familiar objects and light into poetic sculptural expressions.

What stood out was not a singular Asian aesthetic, but the individuality of these artistic approaches—and the many ways artists engage with histories, materials, and experiences beyond geographic and cultural boundaries.

Textile Alchemy: The Art of Reiko Sudō & NUNO
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)
September 20, 2026 – March 7, 2027
What happens when traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary innovation?
At LACMA, Textile Alchemy: The Art of Reiko Sudō & NUNO celebrates more than four decades of experimentation by Japanese textile designer Reiko Sudō and her pioneering textile collective, NUNO.
The largest retrospective of Sudō’s textiles to date, the exhibition brings together over 100 limited-edition textiles alongside drawings, raw materials, tools, and prototypes.
Blending traditional Japanese techniques with cutting-edge technology, Sudō transforms unexpected materials into extraordinary textiles—challenging conventional ideas of texture, structure, and design.
Beyond innovation, her practice highlights the importance of sustainability, collaboration with regional artisans, and the preservation of Japan’s textile-making traditions.

Matthew Brown, Los Angeles
September 18 – October 31, 2026

Matthew Brown presents Trevor Shimizu’s first exhibition with the gallery, featuring a new body of paintings that explore the passage of time, changing seasons, and the quiet rhythms of everyday life.
Moving between landscapes and intimate portraits, Shimizu approaches painting with an understated sense of humor and spontaneity. His loose, expressive brushwork embraces imperfections, allowing nature, memory, and personal experience to shape each composition.
